Research Abstract

われわれが生きていくために必須のエネルギーを生み出すH^+-ATP合成酵素は地球上最小の分子モーターであることが知られている。この酵素の回転触媒反応のメカニズムを核磁気共鳴法により立体構造を基に明らかにした。この酵素は多数のタンパク質単位(サブユニット)が集まってできている。回転の原因となる個々の単位の構造変化はATPとソフトな相互作用に始まり、サブユニット間のソフトな相互作用によって駆動されていることが明らかになった。
