Research Abstract

DNA is the most important material in life science, and can also be regarded as a naturally occurring and highly specific functional biopolymer. DNA shows promise as a provider of a structural basis for the "bottom-up" fabrication of inorganic and bio-organic molecular devices.
DNA and nano-particle complex networks were constructed by self assembly technique, such as Au nano-particle/DNA, ferromagnetic Co nano particle on mica substrate, and straight one dimensional lines of nano-particle/DNA network along mono-layer step on Al_2O_3(0001) single crystal substrate surface.
Point Contact Imaging (PCI)-AFM technique was, developed to reveal nano scale conductivity of DNA network, and dependence of DNA conductivity on humidity was reported suggesting ionic conduction.
Atomic Force Microscope nano-lithography we have developed, was used to construct robust nano-structures of complex oxides down to 30 nm in size, which exhibit High Curie temperature, perfect spin polarization, and high stability for biological molecules.
We have realized (La,Ba)MnO_3 and new ferromagnetic oxide (Fe,Mn)_3O_4 nano-gap electrode structures and successful formation of DNA and Au nano-particle self assembled nano structure within them.
