In this research, we have developed an e-Learning regional hub using WebCT Vista that is widely used in the world and has the capability to be used in regional academic consortium. We have studied from the following view points : information infrastructure, educational contents and how to use.
In 2004 :
・We constructed WebCT Vista server for this study. The number of sheet is 1,500.
・By introducing the connection to JP-IX Nagoya, which is a regional Internet exchange point, we constructed a regional area network for this study.
・We created an information security courseware based on Nagoya University information security policy and guideline.
In 2005 :
・We studied about the following three type of WebCT Vista used among institutions in U.S. : ASP (Application Service Provider) type, multiple campuses type, shared type among institutions.
・To measure the effectiveness of JP-IX Nagoya connection, we performed an experiment to get access logs thorough Web-based course registration of Nagoya Univ
・We measured the effectiveness of our information security courseware through the actual uses in Nagoya University freshmen training for information security.
・We studied about the movement of IT usage in Academic Consortium (AC) 21 institutions.
・We created a courseware for AC21 and seven courseware for AAACU (the Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities)
In 2005 :
・We clarified that (1) the delay time for IP packet transmission is heavily depending on the thorough put by measuring our regional network capability by using JP-IX Nagoya, (2) it is necessary to introduce a regional routing registry (RRR). And also we developed SNMP monitoring tool for regional network administration.
・We clarified the effectiveness of JP-IX Nagoya connection through the access log of Web course registration.
・We created a second information security course contents by using WebCT Vista.
・We developed a Central Authentication and Authorization Service (CAS^2) to enhance the authorization capability of Central Authentication Service (CAS) and clarified its effectiveness. Less
