Research Abstract |
1. Oversea tracking station As the visible period, we can get sufficient visible period by adding only Santiago station to UDSC (Usuda Deep Space Center). We can get the high orbit determination accuracy using the Usuda station and Santiago station. 2. Domestic VLBI station UDSC 64m antenna had already prepared as the VLBI station. This time, we prepared USC (Uchinoura Space Center ) 34m antenna as the VLBI station. 3. VLBI observations of NOZOMI We carried out the Delta-VLBI observation of NOZOMI, and learned the technology of Delta-VLBI orbit determination. 4. VLBI observation of HAYABUSA (1) Analysis using group delay We confirmed that range signal is about 4 times better precision than telemetry signal. Due to the limited bandwidth of signal from HAYABUSA, group delay precision was limited to the order of several tens on nano seconds. DDOR signal, which is used by JPL, is in the form of multi-tones. In order to get high delay resolution in VLBI group delay observation, we will develop the data change system from the systems of JPL and ESA to our system, and examine about the application of multi-tone signal. (2) Analysis using phase delay Drawback of phase delay is difficulty of absolute delay measurement due to integer number of phase ambiguities. We carried out delta-VLBI observation for HAYABUSA in accordance with the events of its touchdown to the asteroid ITOKAWA in November 2005. Since a priori orbit of HAYABUSA is given accurately, the residual after the correction is expected to be constant around zero. We confirmed that excess delay can be calibrated with accuracy about ±0.1 nano seconds (3 cm).
