Research Abstract

Fundamental examination of a liquid crystal display monitor showed that IPS (In-plane Switching) mode and VA (Vertically Aligned) mode were most suitable as an object for diagnostic imaging. Although the time of luminosity degradation of a liquid crystal display monitor was far loose compared with the CRT monitor, when it became in continuation 10,000 hours, it turned out that luminosity falls to 70-80% of an initial value. Early luminosity is kept in the monitor in which the luminosity stabilization circuit is included for at least 10,000 hours. At the target of low contrast, a liquid crystal display can be used as substitution of a CRT monitor. The influence of indoor illumination was not significant and it was suggested also under bright lighting that a liquid crystal display can be used. even if compared with a CRT monitor about the diagnostic ability of a liquid crystal display monitor (1M, 2M, 3M, and 5M). That is, a liquid crystal display monitor can be replaced with a CRT monitor for diagnostic imaging (except for mammography). In the research of a mammo gram using 3M liquid crystal display monitor, the fall of the diagnostic ability of a non-palpable calcification lesion was not seen. From these research results, it is concluded that the test picture for the luminosity degradation judging of a CRT monitor (a clinical picture and contrast chart) would be applicable also to the luminosity degradation judging of a liquid crystal display monitor.
