Research Abstract |
A piece of enamel was cut from the extracted human teeth and embedded in the Teflon mold (control). The enamel surface was treated with a bleaching agent SHOFU HiLite^<TM> (B-enamel). B-enamel was further processed by 1)tooth paste containing no fluorides, 2)tooth paste containing fluorides, 3)silicone cup, 4)glycerine, 5)aqueous solution of mono flour phosphoric acid (MFP) and 6)MFP gel. All specimens were immersed in an aqueous solution of grape skin dye (0.05%) at 37℃ for 120 days.. The color of the enamel after immersion of the dye was measured by spectral chromatometer CM-2600d (KONICA MINOLT). The values of L^*, a^* and b^* were calculated. The color difference was calculated under the formula described as 〓E^*ab= [(〓L^*)^2+ (〓a^*)] ^2+ (〓b^*)^2]. The statisitical analysis was performed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test. In the clinical situations, the bleaching was performed using HiLiteT^<TM>. And the color of the crown of the patients were measured by a dental chroma meter S

hadeEye (SHOFU) before, immediate after and on year after the bleaching. The values of L^*, a^* and b^* were calculated. The measurement of the color of the enamel after immersion of the dye depicted that the L^* value was smaller but the a ^* and b^* values were larger than before immersion. The measurement of color difference (〓E^*ab) indicated that the differences of 1),5)and 6)groups were significantly smaller than that of B-enamel group. No significant differences were demonstrated among the other groups. These results suggested that the conditioning using MFP had prohibited the adhesion of the dyes. The difference of the measuring conditions between the study in the clinical situations and the in vitro study dimmed the certainty of the comparison between two study categories. However, the study in the clinical situations showed that a^* value had no definite tendency because of the difference of the patient's teeth. The decrease of L^* value and the increase of b^* value in the clinical study suggested that the in vitro measurement of L^* and b^* values might be applied to the clinical situations. Less
