Research Abstract

大気CO2濃度上昇が植物の光合成、成長、繁殖機能に与える影響、植物の進化応答機構を明らかにすることを目的に研究を行った。植物進化の研究に有用と思われるCO2スプリングを4ヶ所発見し、そのうち一つ(八甲田山)について現地のCO2環境と植生記載を行った。とくに7種については,CO2濃度に伴う被度の変化を調べた。ミノボロスゲ,バッコヤナギはCO2スプリングに多く,チシマザサはコントロール地点に多かった。このことは,種によってCO2応答が異なること,CO2が上昇すると植生が変化することを示している(Onoda et al. 2005)。他の3つのCO2スプリングについても現地のCO2濃度などの環境測定および現地に生育している植物の光合成特性を測定した(Onoda et al.投稿中a)。現地から採取した植物(オオバコ・オオイタドリ)を実験圃場にて育成し、光合成特性を比較した(Onoda et al.投稿中b)。2004年度に山形県湯殿山のCO2スプリング周辺と付近のコントロール地点から採取したオオバコ個体を実験圃場の高CO2・低CO2環境の二つの環境で水耕栽培にて育成し、非破壊的に成長を追跡した。相対成長速度を指標とし、各地点・各生育CO2濃度における上位3個体から自殖種子を回収し、2005年に同様の育成実験を行った。採取した時点(2004年の実験)ではCO2スプリング由来個体の相対成長速度が高かったが、選抜個体の子供世代では、由来間の違いはほとんどなくなっていた。このことは、CO2スプリング、コントロールの両地点の集団に潜在的に相対成長速度が高い個体が存在していることを示唆する。
