Research Abstract

本研究は、従来のカラムの欠点を同時にかつ大幅に克服した、全く新しい形態の繊維充填型キャピラリーカラムを開発することを目的しており、カラム内の通気性を保持しつつ、かつ細繊維自体あるいは細繊維表面にコーティングする液相等と分析試料との効果的な相互作用が可能となり、これにより従来法では不可能とされていた短いキャピラリーカラムの実用化が達成可能である。
また、試料の注入許容量も従来に比べて飛躍的に増加することから、分析感度の向上が期待でき、種々の微量分析への応用が可能である。更に、優れた耐熱性を有する細繊維をカラム充填剤に用いることにより、これまでガスクロマトグラフィーでは一般に困難とされてきた高沸点化合物の高速分離も達成し得る。
本研究の最終年度である平成16年度には、前年度の成果を受けて以下の項目を研究した。
1)繊維の誘導体化
前年度の研究成果をもとに、繊維の表面を化学修飾(誘導体化)の検討を行った。繊維表面に導入する化学官能基、およびその反応条件について、繊維の化学構造ならびにその反応性を考慮に入れながら、効果的な官能基の導入条件について系統的に検討した。
また、それらの分離選択性ならびに耐久性等についても前年度同様に系統的に検討した。
2)高温分離の検討
メタルキャピラリーを用いて、従来の溶融シリカカラムでは不可能とされてきた高温分離についても検討した。高温対応型恒温槽については、当初計画を一部変更し、既存の装置を改造して自作することにより対応することとしたが、その結果、当初計画以上の成果をあげることができた。
3)実試料への応用および他の分離手法への応用研究
上記で開発した液相被覆型および表面誘導体型繊維を環境試料等の実試料の分離分析へ応用するとともに、液体クロマトグラフィー等の他の分離分析手法へのこれらのカラムの応用についても併せて検討した。
上記の通り、当初計画を上回る研究成果が得られた。なお、これらの研究成果については以下にリストを示す学術論文等で積極的に公開するとともに、国内外の国際会議ならびに学術研究集会等で広く発表してきているが、関連研究分野に属する多くの研究者から高く評価されている。
