Research Abstract

界面の最適設計法の確立は,新規高性能繊維強化複合材料の創製に不可欠である.研究代表者らは,これまでに,繊維破断・マトリックスき裂・界面はく離などの微視的損傷およびこれらの間の力学的相互作用をメゾメカニクスに基づいて定性的に記述できる2次元破壊シミュレーション法(シェアラグ-モンテカルロシミュレーション法)を開発してきた.本研究では,最適界面の定量的な決定を実現するために,平行かつ等間隔に一列配置したボロン繊維10本と透明なエポキシ樹脂を用いて,内部損傷のその場観察が可能な界面状態の異なる2種類のモデル繊維強化複合材料を作製し,実際の材料内部の微視的かつ複雑な損傷過程を詳細にその場観察する.また,3次元有限要素解析を行い,界面はく離挙動について定量的かつ詳細な評価を行うことを目的とした.最終年度の成果は以下のように要約される.
1)その場観察結果を基に,3次元有限要素解析を行い,界面特性を制御した2種類のモデル複合材料における見かけのモードII界面はく離じん性値を求め,これを真のモードII界面破壊じん性値と界面摩擦応力による仕事に分離して定量評価した.その結果,繊維表面の離型処理により,真のモードII界面破壊じん性値は0.4倍,界面摩擦応力による仕事は1/15に小さくなったことが明らかとなった.また,モードI界面破壊じん性値についても定量的に評価した結果,繊維表面の離型処理を施してもほぼ一定値となることが明らかとなった.
2)界面摩擦応力およびはく離界面での摩擦係数についても定量評価した.その結果,繊維表面の離型処理により,界面摩擦応力は0.25倍,はく離界面での摩擦係数は0.4倍に低下したことが明らかとなった.
3)以上より,材料内部のはく離挙動のその場観察と有限要素解析を組み合わせた本手法が,界面はく離挙動の定量的な記述の強力なツールとなることが示された.
