Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Schell氏は、原子間力顕微鏡(AFM)と、共焦点顕微鏡を融合させた独自のナノマニピュレーション装置を開発、これまでに量子ドットや窒素欠陥中心内包ナノダイヤモンドなどの、数十ナノメートルの大きさの発光体を、ナノメートルオーダーの精度で精密に共振器に結合させることに成功してきた。一方、我々は、1μm立方程度という極小のモード体積を持ちながら、従来の固体微小共振器では困難であった「単一モード光ファイバとの高効率結合」を実現するデバイスである、「共振器内蔵ナノ光ファイバ」を提案、実現している。本共同研究では、単一発光体とナノフォトニクスを組み合わせた新規光量子情報デバイスの実現を、Schell氏の開発した独自のナノマニピュレーション技術と我々が最近実現した共振器内蔵ナノ光ファイバとを融合させることにより、実現を目指した。
今年度は、ナノ光ファイバ中に収束イオンビームを用いて微小共振器を形成した「ナノファイバブラッグキャビティ(NFBC)」について、Heイオン集束イオンビームを用い性能向上を行うとともに、Hexagonal Boron Nitride(hBN)の欠陥中心の2光子励起に成功、さらにhBN欠陥中心を用いたナノファイバ結合単一光子源の実現など、様々な成果が得られた。また、原子間力顕微鏡と共焦点顕微鏡を組み合わせたナノマニピュレーション装置の実現にも成功した。また、日本の研究グループならびに環太平洋圏の研究グループとの交流も積極的に推進した。
