| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究においては、バングラデシュの農村開発における新たな介入プログラム（Heiferプログラム）の効果を検証し、衛生環境の改善と意思決定過程における女性の関与に関する決定要因を特定するため、差分の差分（Difference in differences）の固定効果モデルを用いて実証分析を行った。同プログラムの分配面への影響を評価するため、地域やジェンダー間の差異を調査した。
平成29年度は、昨年度までに実施したインタビュー調査を元に作成したパネル・データを用い、引き続き分析作業を実施した。その結果の一部を、"Spatial Panel Modeling in Health Environment: An Evidence from the Use of Improved Sanitation and Drinking Water Sources"という論文にまとめ、2017年6月にシンガポールで開催された国際学会（XIth World Conference of the Spatial Econometrics Association (SEA2017)）にて報告した。また、あらためて対象地域を訪問し、介入プログラムの参加者から開発プログラムの成果について直接ヒヤリングを行った。分析結果については、上記論文および平成28年度に学会報告した論文"Spatial Modeling of Poverty and Policy Implications in South Asia: Evidence from Bangladesh"を、引き続き当該分野の学術誌へ投稿することを試みている。
本研究の結果は、Heiferプログラムが、衛生環境の改善や女性のエンパワメントに有意に正の影響を与えることを強く示している。人々の参加や集団活動を促すHeiferプログラムが、地域の最貧困層の生活改善を後押しする役割を果たしていることが明らかとなった。
