Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of the study is not limited to the status report on the gap in well-being (happiness and health) in Japan due to socioeconomic factors, it also aims to (1) elucidate the risk factors and causes that lead to loss of well-being, (2) empirically elucidate gap mitigation factors based on findings on the relationship between local level factors and well-being, and (3) demonstrate the reduction effect of local intervention on the well-being gap. Therefore, we progressed with analysis of data on approximately 300,000 older people from approximately 40 municipalities that participated in a survey from 2010 to 2016, and evaluated the effect of local intervention in collaboration with municipalities and companies. We presented a scientific basis for social policy that considers “social determinants of health” that lead to reduction of the health gap.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
