Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度は、界面構造制御および異種元素添加による界面特性発現メカニズムの解明を目指し、これまでの推進してきた界面構造の解析と制御に加え、界面特性の解析に重きを置き研究を執り行う計画であった。この計画の遂行のため、次の3点を中心に研究を推進した。（1）双結晶を用いた界面構造制御と解析、(2)界面構造の変化を直接観察するための透過型電子顕微鏡用加熱ホルダー安定化システムの導入、(3)界面局所物性測定のため走査プローブ顕微鏡の計測手法の検討。しかし、平成２９年４月２５日をもって科学研究費助成事業特別推進研究の新規採択による重複制限により本研究は廃止となったため、研究計画の進捗は限定的であった。下記に研究期間内に置いて得られた成果を述べる。
代表的な構造用材料であるアルミナにおいて、周期的な転位列形成される小傾角粒界を双結晶法により作製した。さらに、粒界転位に対し種々の異種元素を導入し、その偏析分布を解析したところ、異種元素のイオン価数に依存して2種類の転位コアに選択的に偏析することが明らかとなった。先行研究により2種類の転位コアはそれぞれ正および負の電荷を有していることが示唆されており、異種元素の偏析分布は、弾性的相互作用に加え電気的相互作用を加味することでよく説明できることが分った。このことは、イオン性結晶における異種元素偏析現象は電気的相互作用に強く依存することを示している。
なお、本研究により得られた知見および課題は、代表研究者らの結晶界面関連研究にて引き続き検討することとしている。
