Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Modern human had emerged in Africa spread around the Asia through the Northern route and the Southern route, avoiding the Tibetan Plateau, and reached the Japanese Archipelago in 38,000 years ago. Because their spread to the Archipelago by the Northern route with the blade technique which indexes the modern human culture is 35,000 years ago, the first modern human culture of the Archipelago has been presumed to be through the Southern route so far, has not been elucidated. In this study, based on the latest archaeological data from India through Southeast Asia to the Archipelago, we demonstrate the behavioral strategies of Paleolithic humans adapted to the environmental conditions at that time, and clarify the actual meanings of the Southern route by modern humans.
