Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We constructed alleys by using two rods on the horizontal plane and estimated geometries of visual and tactile-kinesthetic spaces, separately. The rods were set to appear to neither diverge nor converge, to be separated by the same lateral distance, or to be perpendicular to the frontal plane. There was no significant difference on locus of the alleys among the three instructions. This result suggests that either space is Euclidean. The geometry was also estimated from visual angles between near end points of the rods and between the far ends. The results suggested that visual space is Euclidean under the assumption that visual angle is perceptually magnified; tactile-kinesthetic space is not described by either Euclidean, hyperbokic, or elliptic geometry.
