Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In mammals, developmental ability of in vitro produced embryos is low because the molecular mechanism of fertilization still remains unclear in mammals. In this study, we focused on the oocyte-activating factor derived from sperm. Our results showed phospholipase C zeta (PLCz) has an important role in inducing calicium oscillations in the mouse. In addtion, we identified PLCz has species dependent activity. Our results also showed zinc signaling as well as calcium signal has an essential role in mammalian fertilziation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
