Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Legionella pneumophila is a causative bacterium of a severe form of pneumonia known as legionellosis. We conducted high-throughput screening for chemical compounds which specifically impair Legionella growth within host cells. Some of the compounds we have identified appear to target host cellular pathways which have never been implicated in intracellular survival and replication of microorganisms.
