| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We organized framework of comparative researches on disaster reporting between the United States and Japan through hearings and discussions at local media at New Orleans, Louisiana, University of Missouri Journalism School,journalism research organizations in Washington D.C. such as American Press Institute and BBC's newsroom editors and social media editors. The most important finding was it is the government and other public sector which is responsible for dissemination of urgent information for saving lives and media basically help it as well as fulfilling watchdog role.
We participate Online News Association's annual meeting (ONA15,16,17 and 18) to learn use of social media in case of disaster, as well as how multi-media devices,such as smartphones or 360-degree cameras could be used for effective disaster news reporting and news media have to make technical and organizational preparation accordingly.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
災害報道におけるニュースの消費者が必要な情報は、災害の推移によって大きく変化し、ニュースメディアはその変化に対応していくための取材態勢や技術的な準備が必要があるという基本認識を、日本における地震や津波だけでなく、米国におけるハリケーンや山火事などと比較しながら確認した。
ニュースメディアはまた、新聞やテレビという従来のプラットフォームを超えて、インターネットやスマートフォンという避難先などでも効果的なニュースの発信を行う必要や、ツイッターやフェースブックなどのソーシャルメディアを活用する必要もあり、ソーシャルメディアエディターなど特別な役職やトレーニングも必要となることなどが明らかになった。
