Outline of Annual Research Achievements

I focused on the additional analysis of data I collected for my doctoral dissertation from two South Korean public broadcasting corporations, which have jointly undergone a prolonged strike in 2012.
One of the interesting emergent findings was the variations in conflict escalation process across different occupational groups. Through a comparative analysis, I tried to understand how four occupational groups differ from one another in terms of occupational culture and ideology and how the differences translated into different types of conflict resolution mechanisms.
I presented my preliminary findings in the Labor and Employment Relations Associations (LERA) 67th Annual Meeting held in Pittsburg. Prof. Kyung-hee Yu at University of New South Wales, who has have done research on institutional change and organizational politics, showed her interest in my research and we co-authored an article based on my data analysis, which highlights the role of conflict and strike in the process of institutional change. The article is accepted to the 31st European Group for Organizational Studies annual colloquium in Naples.
Also, I started looking into the conflict dynamics after the end of the strike of the two public broadcasters. In particular, I shed light on abusive supervision between the senior and junior organizational members in the post-strike situation, a notion which has recently drawn a lot of scholarly interest. I developed a paper in collaboration with Prof. Sunwook Chung at Sogang University, which won the best paper award in Korean Academy of Management conference.
