Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、年代情報を有し環境中で保存性のある六フッ化硫黄をトレーサーとして用い、降雨流出プロセスを解明することであった。福島県川俣町の森林小流域を研究対象とし、水文観測、水の滞留時間推定、流出水の成分分離を行い、以下のことが明らかとなった。
1)流出水の年代変化は無降雨時に1.8-6.8年、降雨時に1.3-13.6年であった。降雨時に、長い滞留時間を有する水が流出していることを観測した。流出量と滞留時間の関係を考察することで、2 mm/dayの流出が一つの境界となることを示した。
2)降雨時に流出水の滞留時間が長くなる要因を定量的に解析するために、六フッ化硫黄と塩化物イオンをトレーサーとした端成分混合解析を実施した。降雨時において、降水の流出に対する寄与は30%程度であるのに対して、長い滞留時間(21.7年)を有する基盤岩地下水の寄与率は最大で67%であった。このことは、降雨時に基盤岩地下水が大きく流出に寄与することで、滞留時間の長い水が流出したことが要因と考えられた。六フッ化硫黄をトレーサーとすることで基盤岩地下水の流出を定量的に求めることができ、この成果を国際学会で口頭発表した。
3)地下水の滞留時間の時空間変化を、六フッ化硫黄の実測値に基づき解析した。それにより、降雨直後における谷底部地下水の滞留時間は無降雨時と比較して最大で9年長くなっていることを示すことができた。このことから、谷底部に貯留していた滞留時間の短い地下水が、降雨によって、より長い滞留時間を有する地下水に置換され、流出へ寄与する水文プロセスが示された。すなわち、降雨は、流域内に貯留されている長い滞留時間を持つ地下水を流出させるトリガーの役割をするものと考えられた。
