重力マイクロレンズ法によるM型星周りの地球質量~恒星質量までの伴星の存在量の制限

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度報告した、マイクロレンズイベントの高空間分解能撮像を用いた解析における新たな手法の開発を継続して行った。今年度は新たに同手法を過去のイベント4つに適用した。その結果、4イベント中2イベントで、先行研究とは大きく異なる結果が得られた。解析イベントの一つであるMOA-2008-BLG-310を例にとると、先行研究では、従来の解析法により、惑星系の主星の質量は、ML = 0.67 +- 0.14 MSunであると報告された。しかしながら、本研究により、先行研究で高空間分解能撮像観測によって得られた星像内にはイベントと関係ない星の明るさが多く含まれており、その分惑星系の主星はもっと暗い確率が高いということがわかった。その結果、主星の質量の推定値はもっと軽くなり、ML = 0.15 +0.29 -0.08 MSunとなった。Bhattacharya et al. (2017)はHubble宇宙望遠鏡を用いて、同天体の質量を本研究の見積もりと一致するML = 0.21 +0.21 -0.09 MSunと見積もっており、本研究の結果は独立に確認されている。本手法により、より正しく天体の質量を見積もることができるようになり、これは、研究目的である惑星の存在量を測定するために必要不可欠である。
また、同研究の過程で、惑星が存在する系では、伴星が存在する確率が、惑星を持たない系に比べて少ない可能性があることがわかった。このことは、主星近傍の惑星に感度があるトランジット法では示されていたが、重力マイクロレンズ法が感度のある主星から数天文単位離れた惑星に関しては今のところわかっていない。M型星周りにおける地球質量から恒星質量の伴星(惑星)の存在量の推定に加えて、この研究も進めることで、最終目的である星・惑星形成論を解明していく。
