Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Double Chooz実験は原子炉ニュートリノ実験であり、混合角シータ13の精密測定を行なっている。2011年から後置検出器でデータ収集中であり、2014年末から前置検出器でもデータ収集を開始した。平成26年度までは後置検出器のデータのみでデータ解析を行ってきたが、平成27年度からは両検出器のデータを用いてさらなる測定精度の向上を目指している。Double Chooz検出器は他の原子炉ニュートリノ実験に比べて有効体積が小さいため、統計誤差を抑える為の工夫が必要である。統計量を増やすため、メインの解析で用いるnGd事象に加えて水素原子核の中性子捕獲事象(nH事象)も使うことが有利である。nH事象の場合、バックグラウンドが多いという問題点がある。本解析では、ニュートリノ信号の選別効率を保ちながら偶発的に生じるバックグラウンドを削減する解析ツールを開発し最適化した。偶発的バックグラウンドはシータ13の測定精度に影響を与えるためその削減は測定精度の向上に貢献していると考えられる。
さらに報告者はDouble Chooz実験におけるエネルギー再構成及び検出器応答のキャリブレーション(較正)に大きく関わっており、検出器応答の理解と系統誤差の縮小にも貢献している。
本科研費の旅費を用いて、国内及び海外で共同研究者と議論ができ、研究成果を発表できた。また、検出器のキャリブレーション実施を行った。
