Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では，遠洋性堆積物である層状チャートを対象に研究を行い，中生代に複数回起こったと考えられる巨大隕石衝突の記録を解読することを目的としている．平成29年度は主に，(1) 美濃帯犬山地域に分布する上部三畳系層状チャートのサンプリング，(2) ICP-MSによる主要元素ー微量元素の定量分析，(3) MC-ICP-MSおよびN-TIMSによるオスミウム同位体比分析，(4) ICP-MSによる白金族元素濃度の定量分析を行った．
具体的には，愛知県犬山地域に分布する上部三畳系ノーリアン中期～レーチアン前期の層状チャートについて，1層準ごとに高時間解像度で採取し，巨大隕石衝突の証拠となり得る親鉄性元素および白金族元素の濃集，オスミウム同位体比の急激な負へのシフトが堆積物中に記録されているかについて探索した．その結果，ノーリアン後期の層状チャートにおいて，オスミウム同位体比が低下する層準があることを発見した．岩相の観察からは，チャート単層中に厚さ約1 mmの砕屑岩が挟まれていることが明らかとなり，オスミウム同位体比は砕屑岩を境として急激に低下していることが明らかとなった．一方，砕屑岩は親鉄性元素および白金族元素の濃集は確認されず，隕石衝突などの宇宙物質付加の明確な証拠は得られなかった．
