| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research aims to find out (a) what causes Problematic Internet Use (PIU) of schoolchildren, (b) what kind of influences PIU has, and (c) how effective educational programs and preventative measures of this problem are. We conducted questionnaire surveys (including a panel survey) for primary and junior-high schoolchildren and their parents in Maebashi City from 2015 to 2018.
Consequently, we found out (1) PIU in schoolchildren is particularly related to adaptation to school life, （2） PIU is strongly associated not only with online games and SNS but also with movie websites, (3) Once one gets into the Internet addiction, it is very difficult to get out, and (4) No domestic rules are detected that have a direct preventive effect on PIU.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
青少年の不健全なインターネット利用（PIU）の実態と要因を探求するために、平成27～30年度にかけて前橋市内の小中学生とその保護者を対象としたアンケート調査（中学生を対象としたパネル調査を含む）を実施した。ネット依存は特に学校生活への適応と関係しており、ゲームやSNSだけでなく動画との関連も強い。パネル調査によって、一旦ネット依存状態に陥るとなかなか抜けだすことが困難になることが示された。
