Outline of Final Research Achievements

The information gap is likely to accelerate the stratification of young people. The purpose of this study is to examine the mechanism of expanding the information gap and to propose the solution to the gap.
Information disparity is an urgent demand in today's Japanese society, which is said to be accelerating the disparity society. This research aims to have both academic and social significance in which it not only expands the spectrum of media effect research area but also provide the chance to utilize the Internet as social infrastructure.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は、メディア効果研究の裾野を拡大するという学術的意義を持つ。また、社会インフラとしてのインターネットの効力と活用策を提言するという意味を有しておりこのことが本研究の社会的意義を持つ。
情報格差問題の解決のためには社会情報学及び政策学の学際的アプローチの必要である。社会情報学的観点においては、性別、所得を含むデモグラフィック的要因、居住地域(都市・農村)等といったファクターを中心に論じられ、ICTへのアクセスが社会的不平等を再生産することを明らかにしている。不平等を緩和するための方策の提案のためには、公共政策の効果に関する研究が今後必要であると考える。
