| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
As symbolized by the STAP cell scandal in 2014, there have been many cases of research misconduct in Japanese scientific circles in recent years. An act of research misconduct undermines the public’s trust in science. In response to this situation, Science Council of Japan (SCJ) stipulated as the duty and responsibility of researchers that scientists actively participate in dialogue and exchange with citizens for a better mutual understanding between society and the scientific community (the rest is omitted). In response to this, a principal investigator, in turn, promoted the development of curriculums of research ethics education with an application of scientific communication. The principal investigator gathered data through clinical, educational practices for graduate school students of Kyushu University, to which he belongs, and made it clear that scientific communication linking graduate school students and citizens actually improves graduate school students’ sense of ethics.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
2005年に日本の科学界が「アウトリーチ(科学コミュニケーション)元年」を迎えてから14年が経過した。研究者と社会を結ぶ科学コミュニケーション活動は益々その重要性を増している。本研究は、科学コミュニケーションを応用した研究倫理教育のカリキュラム作成の基礎データを収集し、大学院生・ポスドク等若手研究者の研究倫理感覚の醸成を図ることを目指して実施した。４年間に亘る継続的な臨床教育実践によって、その目的をほぼ達成することができた。この研究成果は、わが国の科学研究への社会からの信頼の回復と向上を図り、科学技術イノベーションを効果的に推進していくための重要な一助となると考えられる。
