| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
On basic education of natural science, teachers' attitude to the nature have great influence to the pupils. Therefore, we developed some programs to make teachers experts of natural observation. Focusing on shell materials, we prepared the materials such as shell specimens, photographs and videos from various shores in Japan. We produced the teaching materials that the teachers can teach their pupils by themselves in the classes of the schools or kindergartens along the study courses. We also held workshops for not only teachers but also nature guides and leaders of nature games. We distributed the new study programs, lectured expertise about natural history, and taught how to make a class with these programs and how to awake pupils to interests in nature. These programs made it possible for teachers to cultivate their intellectual curiosities in nature observation, and extensive knowledge about natural history.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
学校教育の場において身近な自然に触れる機会は少なく、その補完は博物館などの社会教育機関に求められてきた。しかし、多くの子どもに対して博物館だけが対応することは不可能であった。
本研究では、教師を自然観察の名人にするためのプログラムを開発することにより、従来の［学校－子ども］とそれを補う［博物館－子ども］という結びつきを［博物館－学校－子ども］という結びつきに発展させた。このことにより、教師の自然に対する興味と知識の涵養が実現され、子どもの自然に対する興味の喚起と、理科に対する親しみと理解の促進が実現された。学習指導要領で目的とする、自然への深い理解に貢献したことが、本研究の社会的意義である。
