Cultural instituions have functions similar to museums.Our research which analy-zed situations of 27 national youth centers clarified that they have many natural history speimens and cultural materials. But they do not use those resorces effectively for educational purposes.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
博物館は、さまざまな事物を、収集、保存、調査、研究、展示、教育する機関としてとらえられているが、それらの機能は、博物館に限らず他の文化施設・社会教育施設においても、部分的には保有されている。この研究では、そのことに関して、特に青少年教育施設や女性施設を中心に事例調査を行い、それらの施設の機能発現の可能性を見出した。
また、そのための職員の役割とその力量形成プロセスについて、博物館に関する調査から明らかにしており、今後の望ましい施策の方向性を提起した。
