Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we investigated the eating habits of the elderly people, focusing on centenarians, to clarify the common factors of health longevity. We also examined the relationship between the hypertension related genes and the health maintenance of the elderly people. Our results showed that regardless of regional and age differences, common eating habits (intake status of meat, fish, vegetables, dairy products) and daily life (exercising, having hobbies) are important to healthy longevity. Since the dietary life until adulthood is strongly associated with healthy longevity, it is better to provide dietary education for prevention of lifestyle-related diseases from early childhood on the basis of genotype information of hypertension and arteriosclerosis related gene polymorphism.
