Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Doing archival works in the Netherlands and the Britain regarding marriage regulations in both colonies revealed two similar but different way of regulating marriage regulations. Whereas the Dutch case shows us that it incorporated custom regulations on marriage into private law indirectly, the British case seemed to juxtapose each marriage regulation through which the secular registration system loosely intermediate it.
