| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Under the hypothesis that the tradition and method of Art of Memory is one of the sources of visual specificity (the subject's heterogeneity, visual structure inconsistencies, exaggerated images) in Italian art of the Mannerist period, researcher analyzed and clarified the structural synchronization and influence of Art of Memory through the analysis of specific major works (such as the San Paolo Monastery decoration by Correggio and Araldi, Parmigianino's Fontanellato decoration, etc.). These results were presented as works and papers.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
現在、美術史におけるマニエリスムという概念の正当性及び有効性が疑問視され、特にその源泉となった思考を実証的に特定することが課題となっている。本研究では、16世紀前半における具体的な美術家とその作品に関する調査分析を通じて、マニエリスムの諸特質（主題の異種混交性、空間の分割ないし解体と再配置、イメージの誇張や先行する図像的伝統の改変）の源泉の一つが、同時代における記憶術的思考にあったことを解明し、著作及び研究論文として発表した。本研究が提案する、マニエリスム再定義という課題に資する仮説とそれを支える具体的な情報は、マニエリスム研究をさらに一歩前進させることに寄与したと述べることができる。
