Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Analysis of sound source archives recorded in Vilna, Ukraine around 1910 which has been recently found has made actual condition of Yiddish music in the Yiddish culture sphere during the modernist period clearer than ever. Recording in Eastern Europe this period had been considered to had been almost lost. Furthermore, one model of 'Judaization of host culture' emerged from a comparison between Polka originating in Poland and Poyln (Jewish Polka) by Jewish musician. And it turned out that the repertoire of "Klezmer music" shared in Israel has a big difference from that in the eastern European diaspora area and there are also some differences in style. In the workshops for mainly musicians which had held in each year, it was a great accomplishment that they were able to share their understanding about the relevance of dance and dance music through demonstration.
