| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, an intervention and a survey were conducted to improve sleep quality in hemodialysis patients and CKD patients.
In Study 1, hemodialysis patients participated in an intervention using weight-bearing resistance exercise without special equipment. In a quasi-cluster randomized controlled trial at two dialysis hospitals, 42 hemodialysis patients participated in a six-month program. Study 2 conducted a cross-sectional web-based survey on sleep quality and sleep hygiene behaviors involving dialysis patients and CKD patients who were patient monitored by a research firm.
The study yielded findings that can be used to make specific recommendations for improving sleep quality in dialysis and CKD patients.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究の学術的・社会的意義は主に2点である。第1に、透析患者が透析中に実施可能な軽運動が、プログラム実施中の期間、睡眠の質を改善する可能性を示したことである。第2に、透析患者とCKD患者の睡眠衛生の実態に関して、標準化された尺度を用いた調査を実施し、睡眠衛生と睡眠の質との関連を明らかにすることで、患者さんに睡眠の質改善をもたらしうる睡眠衛生の内容が明らかになったことである。これらの知見によって、腎疾患患者における睡眠の質を改善をもたらしうる方法について、具体的な提案が可能になることが期待できる。
