Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Fouling is the deposition of undesired material on heat transfer surface. It significantly decreases the thermal performance of heat exchangers. In this work, a novel method to detect fouling in a heat exchanger is developed. The method combines physical model and data-driven model for the estimation of the heat transfer mechanism. Overall heat transfer coefficient and the heat flux are modeled by physical models. A methodology to estimate the fouling resistance is presented. The method was successfully applied to a simulation data sets and industry data sets.
