Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Fluorescent reagents, which have transition metal complex as recognition site for dopamine, peptides as recognition site of oxytocin and fluorophore such as cyanopyranyl moiety have been developed for the selective detection of neurotransmitters. These compounds indicated weak fluorescence, whereas strong emission was observed after addition of target neurotransmitters. The increases of fluorescence intensities were concentration-dependent, from which a good linear relationships were observed by plotting the data as a function of neurotransmitters concentrations. The bindings and detections of fluorescent probes with target neurotransmitters were not affected by the presence of foreign substances, thereby allowing for the highly selective detection of neurotransmitters. These fluorescent probes can be broadly employed in detection protocols of neurotransmitters by the scientific community in diverse areas of research.
