Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Torpor is that some species of mammals and birds voluntary decrease their body temperature more than 10 degrees under certain conditions. In this study, we induced torpor in mice under various conditions and examined the physiological status to deduce torpor expression mechanism. Our results indicated the cold acclimation and / or shivering play a major role in controlling minimum body temperature during torpor.
