Outline of Final Research Achievements

We performed experimental lung transplantation using a pig model and evaluated the post-transplant lung function.
The function of the damaged lung was recovered by ex-vivo perfusion system.

脳死ドナーの少ない本邦において、尊い遺志で提供された臓器を限りなく移植に使用するためには、状態のよくない肺も、リカバリーシステムを使用することにより、移植に利用できるようになる可能性がある。少しでも移植の機会を増やすことは、肺移植を待ちわびる多くの国民にとって生きる希望であり、また移植待機期間の縮小ができれば待機中死亡（現在は3割以上）を減らすこともでき、社会的にも意義があると考える。
