Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The present study demonstrates that mitochondrial quality control system plays an important role to maintain sperm quality. The failure of the mitochondrial quality control system with aging seems to induce oxidative stress in sperm, resulting poor sperm quality and poor embryo quality. On the contrary, the mitochondrial quality control system is not involved in poor oocyte quality with aging.
