Outline of Final Research Achievements

We developed sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy using SPIO in early oral cancer patients. MR lymphography showed detection of sentinel lymph node and we could detect intraoperatively sentinel lymph node using magnetic probe. This method without radiation exposure can contribute wide spread of sentinel lymph node biopsy.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

頸部リンパ節転移を伴わない早期口腔癌症例に対する磁性造影剤を用いた新しいセンチネルリンパ節の同定法と生検術を開発した．MR lymphographyは放射線同位体を使用しないため，被曝のない安全な方法であり施設によらず撮影できる新たな有効なセンチネルリンパ節のマッピンング法になると思われた．また，磁気プローブを用いたセンチネルリンパ節生検法は，今後の低侵襲なセンチネルリンパ節生検術の普及に大きく貢献できる可能性を示すことができたと考えられる．
