Outline of Final Research Achievements |
General movements; GMs reflect the central nervous system function for neonates. We conducted research to use the GMs assessments for daily care at NICU. GMs appeared every 3-5 minutes except during the quiet sleep state, and it were similar in the prone position. In prone and on swaddling in nest position, the GMs were a short duration and a small amplitude, but the rotatoly movement in hands were observed. These characteristics of the movement influenced the neonatal care were clarified. The GMs and posture of very low birth weight infant occasionally present stiff and opisttonic in term age. We also clarified the effects of drugs such as aminophylline and indomethacin. Those were sudden increase of movement and the qualitative deterioration. We found useful basic data by simultaneous recording of heart rate variability analysis to investigate the relationship with GMs and stress condition. Finally, we have constructed on line GMs reviewing system.
