Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This author examined the contents of the certified caregiver training manual. He found that the manual lacks the detailed explanation of how to assist clients bath. It would be difficult to learn from the manual to learn the necessary skills to assist their clients bath, especially the skills to help clients get out of the bathtub. Based on the finding, additional chapter was added to address the the bathing assistant skills. New training program with visual aid showing the tips to transport the clients in and out of the bathtub was also developed. With the improved manual and the training program, new training sessions for the professional caregivers was held. After the the training, the author conducted survey with the training participants. The survey result indicates, in order to avoid the job related back injury, that ongoing training, rather than one-time training, is necessary for caregivers to sufficiently master the bathing assistant skills.
