Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aims to clarify the background of architectural engineers in modern times by dating back to the Edo period. I researched how shinto priests and carpenters at Kamigamo Shrine and Simogamo Shrine had constructed and maintained the buildings in the Edo period. I also researched how an architectural engineer in Kyoto had learned his skills in the Meiji era. As a result, the relationship between a carpenter in the Edo period and an engineer in the Meiji era was found.
