Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study was the action research to design a training program for using Kaya(a general term for Japanese pampas grass, Imperata cylindrical, rice straw,and reed). Kaya has been used as sustainable resources in Japan. I conducted 10 programs for the general public in Shikoku region. They learned how to maintain the prairie environment, renew or repair a thatched roof, and reuse.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
国外では、茅葺きはヨーロッパ諸国や南アフリカにおいて現代住宅へも施工が始まっている。しかし、古茅(廃棄物)が未利用である場合も多く、茅は輸入するなど、茅の持続的な資源利用という観点では発展途上の点も多い。本研究は四国をケーススタディとした取り組みではあるが、国際的な課題解決に向けた有用な知見や手法を提供した実践的研究になったと考える。
