Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The aim of this study was to focus on empathy which is a typical component of social cognition, and to investigate the factors related to empathy in the older adults. Furthermore, we examined the feature of brain neural activity related to empathy. Our study suggested that cognitive functions and physical and social activities may be involved in empathy of older adults. In addition, our study suggested that older adults with lower levels of empathy may have reduction of white matter integrity than older adults with higher level of empathy.
