In order to clarify that Hume's moral theory could be read as a version of virtue ethics, in this study, I tried to consider and compare his moral theory with some contemporary virtue ethics in terms of these points: first, the criterion to regard some character traits as virtues, second, the explanation and definition of "right action", and third, whether the theory can adopt the principle of "unity of virtues" or not.
As a result, this study accomplished the purposes in a measure. But there remains some further problem which we must solve, in order, precisely, to regard Hume as a kind of virtue ethicist, that is, how Hume conceives the property of virtues, deep or shallow.
