| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research clarifies the impact of mega-projects in post-war Japan, especially the Narita International Airport construction project. Research included interviews conducted in municipalities surrounding the airport and examination of municipal archives. A conference presentation and a post-print article were produced from the research data. Prior research has focused on opposition movements , while this research analyzes the mutual interaction between these opposition movement and development problems.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
成田空港問題は、戦後日本史上において大規模かつ長期にわたって続いてきた社会紛争の代表例である。1990年代に、隅谷三喜男氏が代表者となった研究者グループ、地域住民、国等により、紛争の発生と深刻化の歴史的根源を関係者が相互検証する「成田空港問題シンポジウム」等が開催されたが、同空港が長年にわたり地域社会にもたらしてきた正負の影響を社会科学の観点から明らかにする学術研究は実施例が少なく、当事者の高齢化が進む中で、現地でのインタビュー調査や一次資料による研究実施が急務であった。本研究での学会発表や学術論文等により、成田空港問題を社会科学の観点から学術的に捉えることに一歩貢献できたと考えている。
