Outline of Final Research Achievements

SIRT1, which is highly homologous to yeast silent information regulator 2, and is studied as the lifespan-extending gene.Using the DNA microarray method,we found prolactin like peptide2c3(Prl2c3) which are controlled by SIRT1 activation, and expression increases to 3 times adversely by SIRT1 knockdown.
We thought that there were hormonelike molecules in the background of obesity and the skin aging.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

これまでPrl2c3は細胞老化や脂肪の増加を起こすという報告はない。本研究により肥満や皮膚老化を誘導する体内分子が存在することが明らかになる可能性があり、Prl2c3と各種疾患や肥満との関係が明らかとなり、新たな病態メカニズムの解明や病態診断、治療法開発に繋がる可能性がある。皮膚老化の抑制は高齢者の皮膚脆弱による外傷の抑制や美容上の応用などが考えられる。これらのことは本研究の進展が医学・生物学的のみならず社会的にも貢献できるものと考える。
