Outline of Final Research Achievements

Idiopathic internal resorption is difficult to diagnose. The advent of cone beam computed tomography has considerably enhanced the clinician’s capability of diagnosing internal resorption though it needs consideration of exposure dose. We speculated and tried to apply transmitted light plethysmography for diagnose internal resorption. However there were few teeth we could test, we couldn't find consequence.
There were inflammatory cells and dentin walls were substituted by a bone-like cell in histological manifestation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、内部吸収の診断や解明につながるデータは得られなかったが、内部吸収が生じた歯牙を透過型光電脈派法により測定、診断することが可能になれば、臨床において内部吸収の早期診断方法の一つとして活用でき、診断で多様されるレントゲンによる被爆が軽減し、また永久歯との適切な交換期まで歯牙の保存的治療が期待できる。また、組織学的研究や免疫組織化学的研究をすることにより、内部吸収の解明の一助につながると考える。この解明によって病的吸収歯髄の早期発見や歯髄の温存、乳歯の生理的歯根吸収の解明につながるだろうと予測される。 歯科治療全般の技術にも応用され、歯の保存、失活歯の減少につながることが期待できる。
