Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the retires’ motivation for beginning the child-support activities in one group and to reveal the difference of the members’ continuing motivation and generativity by their beginning motivations. The data about beginning and continuing motivation and generativity derived from the questionnaires focused on 9 members in one child-support group (M=61.56, SD=4.16; all female). The members were classified into active or passive cluster depending on their beginning motivation. The members in active cluster had higher continuing motivation about “helping their society” and “enjoying the relationship with mothers” and had higher altruistic motivation about contribution to community and next generation (one of the aspects of generativity) than the members in passive cluster. The individual differences about the retires’ motivation for beginning and continuing the child-support activities and generativity in one group were revealed.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
