Research Abstract

本研究では、電気化学セルが生成する活性酸素の驚異的に高い酸化力に着目し、酸素の活性化過程を理解するとともに、電気化学セルをナノサイズ化することによって、その酸化力を触媒反応に利用することを試みる。ターゲットとする反応は、ガソリン排ガスでの炭化水素燃焼であり、最終的な目標は貴金属をできるだけ使用せず、炭化水素を200℃以下で低温燃焼することである。具体的な手法として、プロトン導電体粒子に電極触媒クラスターを担持した局所電池型ナノリアクターを設計することで、表面積を触媒レベルまで高めるとともに、外部電源を不要化する。結果として、この技術は新たな触媒材料の創製につながり、レアメタルなどの希少資源の供給問題を解決する有効なアプローチとして期待される。
